You can find SPINDLER on one of my favorite streets in Berlin, right on the canal in Kreuzberg. The building dates back over 100 years and the restaurant was recently remodeled by the young designer Karolina Preis into a classy and tastefully modern establishment. All the furniture was designed by her as well and carefully handcrafted to make SPINDLER even more unique. Their carefully curated and seasonal menu is inspired by Nicolas Gemin, a young and innovative French chef. We started our evening with the most delicious basil smashes- definitely recommend trying one and getting a spot on the patio if the weather allows. But don't fret- knowing Berlin's bipolar weather, you can always get warm and cozy inside the restaurant and relish in the gorgeous decor. When in season, it's a must to order the white asparagus. It's a speciality in Germany and is grown in the ground in a way where it never sees daylight, thus never turning green. If you stop by for lunch, you have to try the Red Beetroot Risotto- not only is it a brilliant color but it comes with crumbled goat cheese and is so addicting. For lunch you can choose from a large variety of creatively crafted salads, soups, and pastas as well- each dish is a work of art and the and attention to detail doesn't go unnoticed. The swanky street of Paul-Lincke-Ufer is one of the trendiest parts of Berlin. The canal is an ideal meeting point for an afternoon stroll with the famous Turkish Market taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays across the street. The ivy covered restaurant is an oasis in its own where candles flicker during dinner and the atmosphere is welcoming and charming. Berlin is famous for its influential art scene, world renowned clubs, big green parks, and most importantly brunch. If you ask any Berliner what their plans are for the weekend, at least one day most definitely will involve brunching. SPINDLER has a a delicious "á la carte" brunch menu on the weekends. The restaurant is also known for its coffee and deserts- a German tradition around 4pm. Make sure you book a reservations to be sure you get a table!
