You'll find Bekarei on one of my favorite streets in Prenzlauer Berg- the charming Dunckerstraße. The cozy yet bustling cafe is a gem with a wide variety of Portuguese pastries, cakes, buns, sandwiches, and of course-coffee. Everything is handmade (along with no preservatives or blends) in house and you can also get made to order breakfast egg plates and smoothies. They strive on creating pastries from regional and high quality products- insuring you're only tasting the best and most delicious baked goods. The cheerful staff really brightened my morning on a dreary Berlin spring day. There is a nostalgic East Berlin, 70's feel of the cafe that you're immediately immersed in as you enjoy your coffee. The neighborhood favorite has it's regulars for sure, people who like to get there early for a nice seat to read the paper. One of the must try staples is the Pastel de Nata- a Portuguese custard egg tart that melts in your mouth. Bekarei is a family run with owners from Greece and Portugal- interlacing the culinary traditions in one adorable cafe in Berlin.  Also if you're hosting your own party soon- Bekarei caters!
